Applying for a licence: documents, fee and health
MTO Driver’s Handbook: Getting Your Driver’s Licence, Applying for a licence
To apply for a licence you must show proof of your legal name and complete date of birth. The documents must be original and valid: photocopies and expired documents are not acceptable.
You apply at a DriveTest Centre, or at a Travel Point — a temporary DriveTest Centre used where there is no regional centre, and you pay a fee when you apply. That fee includes the cost of the knowledge test, your first road test and a five-year licensing fee. A second road test and any retest cost more, and you must prepay the fee to schedule a road-test appointment.
