Sharing the road with pedestrians
MTO Driver’s Handbook: Safe and Responsible Driving, Sharing the road with pedestrians
Road safety is shared between pedestrians and drivers. A pedestrian must make sure that a driver has seen them and is stopped, or is about to stop, before entering the roadway, and a driver must respond properly to the presence of pedestrians: in most cases that means yielding to the pedestrian. Eye contact between the pedestrian and the driver is one of the keys to pedestrian safety.
