High Occupancy Vehicle lanes
MTO Driver’s Handbook: Safe and Responsible Driving, High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) Lane
A High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane is a lane designated for certain types of vehicles carrying a set number of occupants. HOV lanes are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and they move more people in fewer cars, reduce the number of vehicles on the road and reduce overall emissions.
