High Occupancy Vehicle signs

MTO Driver’s Handbook: Traffic Signs and Lights, High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) signs

A High Occupancy Vehicle sign marks a lane that may be used only by public vehicles such as buses, or by passenger vehicles carrying a specified minimum number of passengers.

Some HOV signs also mark a stretch where vehicles cannot change lanes into or out of a high-occupancy vehicle lane.
