Attaching, loading and towing a trailer
MTO Driver’s Handbook: Your Vehicle, Attaching your trailer; Trailer hitch; Loading your trailer; Slowing down and stopping
Your trailer must have two separate ways of attaching to your vehicle, so that if one fails or comes loose the trailer stays attached. If you use safety chains, cross them under the tongue so that the tongue cannot drop to the road if the primary hitch accidentally disconnects, and make sure the chain hooks have latches or devices that will not come off by themselves.
